On the big screen!

Our trip to Cinci was a major success. Although the only things we bought were food. not surprising... ;) Ikea is AMAZING - we will for sure be back when it comes time to really do some major decorating. The pottery barn outlet was also pretty fab, but still pretty darn expensive unfortunately. We also decided on some gorgeous flooring at a place in Columbus so unless we find something we like better here in Lex, we'll make another trek up in June to scoop that!

I ran 8 miles with my Dad yesterday in Etown. I went home for the day to meet with a printer to discuss my menus and table numbers. He had the afternoon off and I'm rarely home without Andy so I took advantage of some QT with Dad :) I think he may feel a little shafted as when I'm home my attention is dominated by Olivia and my Mom but I so appreciate the time I get to spend with him. I took up golf in college solely as a way to spend time with Dad and I'm so thankful for that!!

Anyways, the ran went GREAT! Olivia had to attend "Book Bee" in Louisville so was gone all evening but I thought I'd run by her school to surprise her real quick before the bus left. We ran 2.5 miles to McDonalds, stopped to grab a Parfait, then ran .5 miles to her school, dropped off the Parfait and got some quick hugs, then continued on til we made it back home. We probably looked like huge dorks jogging with a McDonalds bag in hand but oh well :) We ran 9 21 miles so it was a very comfortable pace for us.

Dad, Andy, David and I are all running in a 10K this weekend in Louisville and Mom and OJ will be there at the start and finish to cheer us on :) I'm looking forward to the run with all of my favorite men (minus Cam)!

My Mom had SO many cute little projects at the house that I had not seen. I didn't take any pictures but I will when I'm home for spring break :) She made a fabulous table runner for our giant 38 people middle table, plus some goodies for the bridesmaids, "Pew Babies", handkerchiefs, etc. She's been a busy little lady!

Here's a little peak at the table numbers I've been working on! I'm really trying to personalize a lot of stuff AND use our engagement pictures anywhere we can -

And speaking of our Engagement Photos - our wonderful photographers, Deanna and Eric Delbridge of Deanna Kaye Photography featured us in their promo video for engagement shoots. The video is pretty neat so check it out on their blog:

That's all for today - off to study for a Psych test :(

March Madness

I have a slight obsession with healthy food, fitness, etc. so I love reading all types of health blogs! I found this through one of my faves and thought it'd be fun to participate :) It's the March Madness Fitness forum going on at http://www.brittneyjoywilliams.com/.

March is a big month for me! First wedding dress fitting!! Here's the gorgeousness that I'll be slipping into on March 19th :)

{Dress pic deleted due to risk of accidental exposure to future hubby}

While it is a very thin, stretchy dress, it obviously does not allow for flabbiness to be hanging out at all angles! To be honest, I totally did not get the well-endowed genes but I do have a decent back so I thought I might as well show something off :) Growing up I always thought I'd fall for a poofy dress but after my jaunt as a Derby Princess, I'd had my fix of poofy white dresses. Needless to say, my dress choice has put the heat on to get fit and toned for the big day in exactly 4 MONTHS!

So, back to the March goals that will get me on my way to the altar:

-Run at least 80 miles. (prepping for the marathon should make this doable)
-Shred on days I don't run more than 5 miles.
-Attend at least one spin class/week.
-Use my newly purchased foam roller/marathon stick daily.
-Stretch 2x day- morning and night.
-Ice cream no more than 2 times/week (ice cream is my 2nd true love in life)
-Lose 5 lbs - I struggle losing weight when I'm doing extremely long runs but I have a feeling it's more of a mental thing where I "reward" myself for burning 700+ cals in a run.

Wish me luck!! :)

Roadtripping it

So I have had exams constantly the past few weeks it seems and I'm totally looking forward to a fun weekend! Though I have another test next Monday, it definitely shouldn't be as hard as the others which means I get to have a little fun this weekend!

I have a major itch to get Andy's house ready for me :) He's currently got a roomie though so that cramps my decorating style a bit but such is life. The plus side is that his living room furniture belongs to the roomie so we get to start from scratch when we get married.

#1 priority is new floors! We plan to keep the house as a rental property in the future so we'd like laminate wood floors - durable and won't stain :) I keep up with this adorable blog, uglyducklinghouse.blogspot.com , and it is the bomb.com. I am obsessed with her floors so I emailed her to see where she got them! They came from an outlet near her home in ATL but fortunately, there's one in Columbus, OH! and I have been DYING to go to IKEA! which is near Cinci. so we're roadtripping up to Ohio!

Now, IKEA isn't really my style from what I can tell but it still just looks so awesome and I feel like I need to experience it. I like to look at every possible option before committing to something (ie, houses, couches, wedding dresses) so I just want to check them out. I chose the paint color for his house and it's a really pale yellow, beigy color. I want dark floors and really light furniture - would really love white but Andy is not the neatest eater ever ;) I'd like a cushy, soft rug, big pretty pillows (that can be changed out if I get tired of my accent color) and some comfy couches. I want it to just feel really homey and not like a college house or anything!

Another stop on our roadtrip is the Pottery Barn outlet. I LOVE pottery barn! but it's so darn expensive! I've been dying to go to the outlet forever but have just never been. We registered for our every day china and our bedding from there and I'd flip if they happened to have the duvet I'm eyeing on sale! I can't wait to get it and get it monogrammed with our MARRIED monogram! :)

Last stop that we MUST take is Trader Joe's! Ever heard of it? It's only in bigger cities.. I've never been but I hear it's FAB-O! Lots of cool health food and I'm all about some fun, weird food.. ie, Xanthum gum and PB2! Check them out. Xanthum gum makes the thickest, most delish smoothies. and PB2 is awesome if you love PB but not the 200 cals that comes along with a serving.

Andy's the best for indulging me with this little trip - probably not the way he'd prefer to spend his Saturday but it's fun to plan what OUR house is gonna look like! :) So, off to PB, Trader Joe's, IKEA and Floor store we go!! Let me know if you have any suggestions for good places to eat! :) We may need some sustenance to get us through this marathon day!

Round 3

Third time is the charm, yeah?

I'm back... between med school, wedding planning, running and my perpetual case of ADHD, the blog hasn't happened. But now that I have one person committed to reading I thought I'd give it one more try :)

Life isn't much different than it was a year ago! Just more exciting :) School is slooowly coming to an end and it feels like a Mac truck is headed my direction. Lots of studying, exams and boards before the summer can really begin. And then of course, it's practically wedding time!! July 2nd... only 4 months and 1 day away! GASP! We have had SO much time to plan that I haven't really felt any pressure at all but I do have some things looming over my head now.

On another exciting note, Andy and I have decided to run a marathon!!!!!!!!!! Oct 9 in Chicago is the big day :) It's been a goal of mine to run a marathon sometime in my life and I had a realization that I'm only gonna get older and busier so why not now?? Figure it will be easier to train now than with babies and jobs! Our training will seriously start mid May but we want to be comfortably running 5-8 miles before training begins. I've found a new running buddy and we do around 6-7 once a week or so. Andy and I run together 2-3 times/week and we're up to 5 together. We're running a 10K in two weeks and a 10 miler in 4! :) Each week has been a max for him so it's really fun to watch him develop more patience and a better attitude about what he's capable of.

Okay, back to the seriously fun stuff. Wedding. :) I'll share some stuff little by little but here's what's on my mind now... Got lots of to do's for my spring break! #1 is assemble invitations! We got them in the mail and they are gorgeous to the max! And then I spent 20 minutes trying to figure out how to tie some ribbon and am totally stumped :( Fortunately, mom ties the prettiest bows in the world so she said to just leave them alone. haha. That's the #1 goal for spring break. I'm also hoping to assemble our out of town boxes for the hotels! I finally found the perfect thing to represent Andy and Indiana :) yay!

I FINALLY ordered the shoes I've been dying for! I found them on the Badgley Mischka website recently but they weren't available in stores yet... but, fortunately now they are!! Just in the nick of time as my first fitting is March 19th! ah!!!!! I've been compiling pictures of how I want my dress to fit as well as bustle, etc.

Okay, first I'll share my shoes (bc they are so perfect) and then I have a question!!

Question time! I have a champagne sash to go with my dress. How should it be tied? I personally think it should be tied in the back - Mom thinks it should be in the front. It's a 4 inch wide satin sash and I have a brooch to pin in the middle of the bow. I plan to wear it for the ceremony only and take it off for the reception. Let me know what you think! :)

Goodness Sakes!

Med school has taken over! My last block of classes was miserable but we've moved on to something a little better :) Wedding planning had been put on pause but we are off to Cincy to look for bridesmaid dresses this weekend!

So far we have taken care of:
Church and Priest - St. James
Reception Venue - the Henry Clay
Photographer - Deanna Kaye Photography
Band - Endless Summer Band
Dress - :)
Florist - hometown florist

So excited for school to settle down a bit so we can get busy with wedding plans!

I'm also about to start up with a personal trainer at my school's gym - pretty nervous about this... never worked out with a personal trainer before! Wish me luck :)

...i'm hurt

So last Tuesday night my hip got really stiff. I've never had hip pain before, only knee. Wednesday it hurt a lot so I opted out of my run. I decided I'd skip running for the rest of the week so I'd be able to do my 6 mile run over the weekend. I did start running sunday morning... only made it a mile before I quit. My hip was just hurting very badly.

I got on the elliptical today for an hour. The pain wasn't so bad while doing that, but it's still tight afterwards. Hopefully it'll go away soon so I can smoke Davo!

Wedding Stuff-
Met with a planner, florist and photographer over the weekend. Lots of fun! Excited to go dress shopping in a couple weeks!!

First Post!

Welcome to my blog! I made a blog because David did :) He's running in the mini-marathon this April as well so Dad can check these both out to make sure he's training as much as we are ;)

I'll also include some wedding planning fun so Mom can be in the loop as well!

I'm planning on running ~10 min miles in the mini so a finish time of around 2:10. If I get super ambitious, I'd like to break my PR of 1:58 but that's not too likely.

Anyhow, my runs for the week have been like this so far:
Sunday - 5 Miles - 48:47
Monday - 5 Miles - 49:02
Tuesday - 1 Mile - 8:45

I'm following the Derby Mini-Marathon Training schedule.

On the wedding front, we were supposed to meet with a photographer this past Monday but he had to cancel :( We look forward to meeting with a planner this Saturday and the photographer on Sunday!
